I chose to use the brand tutorial as inspiration for my own brand image. I have been doing a lot of design work for my dad's company, Jennings Environmental, and for his colleagues and their environmental design work. I did not create the logotype; another designer created it last year, before I had the skill set to do it myself. I think it's a great logotype, except that I wish they had adjusted the kerning before they had finalized and converted it to an image. My dad is all about water, so I thought a water background would be cool. It was hard to make the logotype pop in front of the water background because the colors are so similar. I wish I could have manipulated the logotype in a text format more, but I only had the png file to work with. So when I made an adjustment to correct one part of the image, another part would get worse. I did a bit with strokes, drop shadows, and a few other effects to make the logotype show up better. Then I applied a slight warp effect to make it appear like it was floating on the water and moving with the waves. I didn't want to do too much to warp the actual logo image itself. I also adjusted the background image to make it look a bit deeper and more complex. The image was a free image from free-background-wallpaper.com.
