Greater Bamboo Lemur character Work in Progress
I started with basic shapes to try to put my lemur together. The coloring was very difficult with all the various shades of brown and the fact that all his limbs were close to his body. I also struggled to get the texture right with all the fluffy fur.

Greater Bamboo Lemur character final
I figured out how to use the gradient tool and simple black and white forms to create shading and dimension. I forwent the fur symbol on the tail and instead drew my own fur design with the pen tool. I also added a mouth and manipulated the eyebrows to add a more engaging facial expression.
Greater Bamboo Lemur hangtag final project
This is the final version of my project. I have placed the lemur character on a tree branch and created a custom bamboo border. I also incorporated patterns from the textiles of the Madagascar cultural groups. I think I was successful at creatively incorporating all the necessary elements for this assignment in an aesthetically pleasing and effective way. The hangtag is clear to a reader and has useful information. It is also visually appealing to children and adults. I was also successful at anthropomorphizing the lemur by giving it a fun facial expression. It was challenging to create a nice looking bamboo border and to create a die cut border that would be easy to cut but still look nice.
